[026] Still unable to import .doc files

MM has noted that there’s a known problem with the Import function not working consistently for all users when applied to .doc files. I’ve had this problem on a number of the recent betas, and alas, 026 didn’t fix it for me.

All my .doc files are created in OpenOffice Writer 3.3.

It may be helpful to know that I can import .doc files into 026 on my Win 7 netbook, using either the Import function or dragndrop.

I can’t import .doc files into 026 on my Vista laptop. It works fine to convert them to .rtf to import them, but I hope this is can be fixed before the software goes into full release. Otherwise, I’ve been happy with 026 and encountered no problems.

Lee is still working on the .doc and .docx import. Do you have Word installed on either of your computers? If so, what version?

Jennifer, sorry for the delay in answering your question. I’ve been out of town for a while with only spotty web access.

You asked if I have Word on either of my computers. No. Neither of them has ever had MS Office at all. Hope this helps, and thank you (and the rest of the team) for all the hard work.
