This release has been a bit of a disappointment for me, personally. I’m sure its been a ton of work, and its always good squashing bugs and improving stability and all that. However, there is no new functionality here, in addition to the fact that there is nothing listed in the change log that has ever remotely effected me while using Scrivener.

It has been a long time between updates, and I am have not been anticipating any wild new functionality. I really just want some simple things that would reduce my traditionally high degree of frustration when using Scrivener. Little things like the ability to adjust the insert point in the editor (typewriter scrolling it too high and wastes half of my space when I am adding to the bottom of documents most of the time; the Mac version has this) or the Title & Synopsis column for the outliner (also which the Mac version has). The ability to toggle the menu bar a la SublimeText and many other editors out there and the ability to recolor the chrome or maybe eliminate more of it as I’ve discussed with some of the mods in the past.

See, I’m not looking for complicated text processing stuff. In fact, I’m not likely to use 90% of what Scrivener can do now, not to even mention what it will be capable of in the future. I’m just looking for the bits that will improve the speed and efficiency with which I organize and compose my prose, which is mainly about the ergonomics of the gui and keyboard.

Guess I’m back out to other editors for another 2-3 months while I hope the next update will bring just a tiny bit of change that applies to me.
