30 day trial finishing on day 2!

Hi,

I downloaded the trial yesterday and was enthusiastically playing with Scrivener following spending a couple of hours on the tutorial.

I’ve come in this morning, opened it and carried on. Then I shut my Project and tried opening a new one and its now telling me that my 30 day trial period is over. After less than 24 hours since downloading :frowning:

I’m currently really liking this tool, and have been tasked with seeing how it could be rolled out within my company. I can’t do that if 30 days is 29 days short :frowning:

Any advice?

Really like the tool but feel a bit short-changed at the mo.

Hi,

I have the same problem. I’ve written to support, but I don’t have answer yet… :frowning:

It’s really annoying as its making me begin to think about - no pun intended - writing off what I did yesterday, and finding a competitor’s tool and restarting from scratch.

I’m was really likely to make the purchase, but the goodwill is being somewhat eroded by this not working. How can I trust it to work once I’ve paid?

It’s a good question. However, I hope someone give us an answer.

I’m evaluating also StoryBook and Liquid Story Binder, but really the one I prefer (until now) is Scrivener. So, I’ll have a little more patience. Perhaps with this they can improve the program…

Does yours also updated the version before all this happened?

I only downloaded it yesterday so it should have been the most up-to-date version. I’ve not been offered, accepted or rejected an update anyway.

I get a pop up that states:

I updated to version 1.2.1.0, if I remember well, before this happened. I tried to uninstall and install again but, of course, it didn’t work.

Could be a problem with that version?

Mysteriously appears to have let me in again!

Congratulations! I’ll try later, when I go home.

No luck!

A popup says:

I need help! I want to continue with my trial period!

OK, just to rule out the obvious… Have you used the Scrivener trial previously on a different version of Scrivener? Or, it the software wrong when it says you’ve used it before?

I’m also having the same problem. I was playing around with Scrivener just last night and I had 24 or 25 days left on my trial, but I’m getting the same error message. I did just download the update the other day (which made Scrivener stop working, so I uninstalled then reinstalled it once more, but ultimately had to download Microsoft C++ in order for it to work).

Other than that, I don’t understand why it went from 25 days remaining to trial expired. Any help in correcting this would be appreciated

I was trying version 1.0.3. It worked ok. I still had about 24 days trial and the software asked for a updating. I accepted it and it updated to 1.2.1.0. Next time I open Scrivener, I get the message of trial expired.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but it didn’t work.

Hey all, sorry for the lag in response on this issue. We are looking into this right now. It, along with the load bug when double-clicking on .scrivx files are the highest things on the list right now. Apologies for the inconvenience, and we’ll post an update in this thread when there is either a solution that can be applied, or a fix that can be downloaded!

Thank you very much, AmberV!

The same exact thing just happened to me, on day 2 of my trial. And I don’t need to say I was REALLY enjoying the software, going through the tutorial and tweaking the settings to suit my needs.

Based on what I’ve seen thus far, I’ll most likely purchase the software, but obviously I have to believe that it will work consistently on my system. Nothing kills a writing buzz like being banished from your workspace.

I’ll continue to try various workarounds. I’d hate to reinstall, but I guess it’s worth a try if nothing else works. Please let me know when a fix is discovered.

Thanks,

Brendan M. Burns

Re-installing won’t work, and right now I do not recommend messing about in the Registry either. This might give you a very temporary reprieve, but you would find yourself expired a few hours later again so it won’t solve anything. I’m keeping tabs on the developments and will post in this thread when we know more! Once again, terribly sorry about this. It’s not exactly the best first impression, I know.

Much appreciated.

After it allowing me in yesterday afternoon, it’s now reverted to telling me the trial has ended again! :frowning:

I’ve got the same problem, any help would be appreciated, I’ve got a deadline looming and would love to finish writing in Scrivener.

How long have you been using the software? I’m assuming you’ve been using the trial for some time if an approaching deadline is concerning you—but all of the cases I’ve seen listed so far for this big involve people who have only recently first downloaded the software and then lost access to it within a day to a few hours.
