I’m not sure if this is just me or other people but when I open a new project and the table for types opens up, I can’t create a nonfiction project, lyrics, or the misc. types. Is this a bug? Has Scrivener just not got to it yet?

Yes. This is the type of thing you want to hold off on until feature stability is reached. Otherwise you spend all of your time updating these bonus features every time a feature gets tweaked or added.
