a couple fullscreen requests

Hello,

Thanks for making Scrivener. I really like all the pre-writing organizational features. I’m coming in to this from the Nanowrimo trial, and from having used Jer’s for the previous four years. Alas Jer has become too busy elsewhere to maintain Jer’s, so I’m hoping maybe some of the features I liked from there could be added to Scrivener.

Two to start with:

  1. In full-screen mode, could there be some kind of indicator that saving occurred when I hit ctrl-S? I’ve found that this sort of works if I have the mouse at the top to reveal the menu bar, but I’d like something to flash briefly when the menu bar isn’t revealed, too.

  2. The “jump to the middle of the screen” thing annoys me.
    a) could there be some way for me to indicate where I want the cursor to jump to? I’d like it about 2/3rds of the way down instead. (Jer’s briefly had a draggable-rule thing in fullscreen, which I liked very much until it got removed in a later version.)
    b) Failing that, could it be turned off?

And finally, I figure this is a long shot but … is there any possibility of something resembling margin notes?

Hi,

You can turn off “typewriter scrolling” via the Text menu (that is the “jump to middle” thing). A couple of users have asked for some way of choosing where it jumps to, and that is on my list to consider for 2.0 when I get to the full screen improvements, but not definite (it depends on other factors, including time, but is definitely on the radar).

I’m not sure about a saving indicator in full screen - no else has asked for this. One thing that springs to mind is just having the menu appear with the File menu blue at the top of the screen briefly after you hit cmd-S, though.

As for margin notes - something “like” margin notes may well be coming to 2.0.

All the best,
Keith

How about Growl integration? Could be used for other things as well, e.g. … or … or …
