I see that there is supposed to be a feature to split imported text docs by choosing from the menu, File/Import/Files/Split Files… but in the Windows version I have it only goes to: “File/Import/Files” (without the “Split” option). This is almost an essential feature for me in order to import files I’ve been using in another program… Will this be coming soon to the Windows version? thanks! Eric
It will be coming, but we can’t say how soon as there are some higher priorities at the moment (chiefly performance). You can still split up files that you import, though, by using the Documents > Split commands. For instance, Split at Selection can be invoked using ctrl-K, which allows you to split things up quickly.
All the best,
Keith
I’m seeing a lot of “split an imported document manually - it’s fast and easy.” I’d like to offer an alternative perspective.
I’ve spent 36 hours splitting a single file into “sections.” I’ve 360 so far with another 50 to 100 left in this ebook. I have another project coming up with over 1000 splits as part of the import process. Having this feature added would be a serious time saver and bonus in the Windows version.
I’m converting a couple blogs into books and there are a LOT of articles that need to be separated then segregated into topics as they are not in a particular order. If I could afford it, I’d hire someone to do this, but for now, I’m becoming an expert splitter and watching precious creative hours pass me by. Would be nice to have the Mac feature in Windows to make this easier and less time consuming.
Thanks,
Lorelle
I haven’t heard anything new on this. Is the ability to split documents upon import available yet or in the works? I’m holding back on several books due to the amount of time it is going to take to import these into Scrivener and split all of the chapters apart. I’d like to get going with these or find a way to make the import process easier and faster.
Thanks.
