Adding even small images makes my document very slow

Hi,
I’m a big fan of Scrivener. I’m writing a book chapter, and I noticed that even adding a few small images (3 images, less than 200kB in size) makes the document extremely slow. I’m not talking about compiling, this is just working in the editor itself.

When I activate the particular subsection, it takes about 12 seconds to even be able to scroll and the whole editor locks up for that time. As I said, there’s only three images and about 1500 words.

The images are “linked files,” inserted by Edit -> Insert -> Image Linked to file.

Any suggestions?

At this point, I don’t actually need to see them, but I would like to be able to compile them (and ideally have them show up in a file sync as well — I connect scrivner to Draft.)

Thanks,
Chris
