After Update Unable to Open Documents

I store my Scapple documents in cloud. The other day, I received a notification that Scapple was updated. After the update, I tried to open a document and the software crashed. I tried to drag the documents from iCloud to my desktop, but received a message that I did not have permission to read the document. How can I fix this?

I have emailed tech support and have received no reply to my issue. Literature and Latte is usually a great company. What is going on?

I am curious if anyone else has had the same problem. My fix was to use Time Machine and to go back to the day before the update. Then I restored the files and everything now works.
