Aktivate Linenumbers and new Page automaticly?

  1. how to activate line numbers (line numbering) in the text block of Scrivener under Windows
  2. how to activate the automatic insertion of a new page after 30 lines
Until now I have only endless tape and have to insert a new line with from here on with “Split on selection”.

An answer to question 1:
Go to View->Text Editing->Show Line Numbers

Scrivener has no pages. It is not a WYSIWYG.

This is true. The OP could create a new document (the equivalent of a new page) if desired by counting the lines and pressing Ctrl+N when desired, or a Page Break (Ctrl+G, Ctrl+Z) if that works better for them. The latter is not the preferred way to do it anyway. Use Compile to put together the final output. There is no way to do it automatically in any event (at least as far as I know).

Does the Windows Beta have the “Page View” mode, which KB built on the Mac platform for the benefit of scriptwriters, as that is how they estimate time needed? I don’t think you have to be in script mode to use it. It only gives an estimated pagination, as full pagination only occurs at compile time.

If it’s there in the Beta, the OP could perhaps use that, though s/he’d have to experiment with page set-up and font size/line spacing to get exactly 30 lines.

In Page View mode, you can get 55 lines per page by using a 0.82 line width at 12 points.
I’m guessing that 30 lines per page would be approximately 1.6 line width at 12 points. Now I have to play with it and find out.

This varies with font. But I was right.
Using Courier Prime 12 pt at 1.6 line width, I get 30 lines per page (with standard letter size pages with 1.25" top and bottom margins) in PAGE VIEW.
Otoh, using Noto Serif 12, I get fewer lines per page.

Thanks for answering. Linnumber doesnt work well. The numbers are with different distances and not in the row of the text.???

The line numbers are slightly offset from the corresponding line of text, yes. They will show up with both Page View turned on or off. However, they track lines that end using the paragraph marker, not the line feed – so if you turn on Show Invisibles, you will see that it only increments the line when the line is terminated by a paragraph marker (pilcrow).
