I looked already at the solutions for this problem, and can’t get them to work.
Been using Scrivener for years, but as of a couple weeks ago, all new text I write is highlighted in green and I have to go manually un-highlight it.
I must have inadvertently turned on some option I didn’t want. Any help much appreciated.

I was able to reproduce your issue.
It seems that you inadvertently highlighted the demo text in :

It doesn’t show because of the blue “selected text” color.
Just select some text for which you removed the highlight in the editor, then go to the options (same screenshot) and click “Use formatting in current editor”.
