Thank you for reporting this error Bonnie. Our Scrivener for Windows beta development team are working through reported errors as swiftly as possible. As you can imagine, the first few days after releasing a beta can be rather hectic! I trust we will provide you with a satisfactory response shortly.
All the best,
David
I am also getting this error when I attempt to start the application. (“The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.”) I downloaded the application without any trouble, and also downloaded the update that was pushed out on the 27th.
Some further information: I’m using Windows Vista on a laptop - I am not behind on any Windows updates. I have attempted to run the program “as Administrator” as well as on different compatibility modes, to no avail.
I know you guys are working diligently to get problems like these fixed. If there is any more information I could give, please let me know. Thank you so much for your hard work, because I’m really looking forward to using Scrivener.
Thank you Korin. “The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.” has been reported a number of times, so Lee has this one logged and is working on a solution.
We appreciate your understanding post. I am sure Lee will get a beta update out as soon as he can.
All the best,
David
If you are on XP or Vista, it might be worth trying to install (or reinstall if you already have it) the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 redistributable package.
It is available from Microsoft here: microsoft.com/downloads/en/d … laylang=en

That fixed the problem for me! And I am loving this so far! Keep up the good work!!
