I once tried to write a thriller and I remember my agent saying that the plot was ok but that all the characters were far too nice. I’d written about all these nice middle class people walking around killing each other!

I’d actually like to read that cut.

Everybody, no matter who they are gets to the middle of a book and thinks crikey, I’ve had enough of this. You get bored with your story and your characters, you hate them all, you can’t think why you started this wretched story in the first place.
