I’ve been using Scrivener for several years and mostly without any issues with the set-up. But in the past few days, the autocorrect for spelling isn’t working in Scrivener or Text Edit.
It will utilise capitalisation, but won’t correct faulty spelling.
I’ve read all previous topics here as well as Google search. I’ve done all the various recommended methods - uncheck autocorrect, then restart Mac and check spelling autocorrect box etc.
Uninstalled Scrivener and downloaded it again. Anything that’s been suggested I’ve tried yet still incorect speling corection isnt werking.
Any suggestions, please?
If it’s also not working in Text Edit, that indicates it’s an Apple issue, not a Scrivener issue. What macOS version number is your computer running?
Hi and thanks for your reply.
Here’s a screenshot.
martin.
Go to System Settings and find the spelling and autocorrect options.
I’ve done that and checked all the appropriate boxes.
If that is true and the problem occurs in TextEdit, it’s a Mac problem and you need help from Apple.
These are my settings:
Having taken on board replies saying the problem was Apple and not Text Edit or Scrivener, I went to Mac settings and unticked the Text Edit autocorrect settings. Then I restarted my Mac and ticked the boxes to autocorrect. Now it’s working everywhere. I’m reminded of Einstein? who said to keep repeating the same action and expecting a different result is an act of stupidity .
