I’m a newbie to Scrivener. I’ve written on word for years, so mostly comfortable. My one problem is I cannot seem to make it stop autocorrecting every single proper noun. I can’t even backspace to get it back. Smithwell becomes Smith Well. Detroit becomes Deet riot, Things like that. I have looked for controls for these functions, but have not found any.
I actually kind of like “Deet riot”. Good name for a band.
Sounds like you want to turn off File > Options > Corrections > Spelling > Correct spelling errors as you type. I disabled this a long time ago, after having a similar experience.
That change will probably be sufficient, but you might also want to check out the other settings under File > Options > Corrections > Corrections/Spelling, as there may be other you want to tweak.
Boom shaka laka. I missed the “spelling” tab when I looked before. Thank you very much. Already done and rolling again. I honestly appreciate your time.
Also if do spelling in a document as go when hit words like Detroit and other proper nouns you can add to dictionary and then turning on correct spelling as type will not be a problem. I had scifi novel with lots of names and places and once added to dictionary was no problem.
