Background blur in composition mode

Hi, this is just an idea, and I have no clue whether it’s technically feasible, but: Would it be possible to make the editor area in composition mode blur the background image instead of filling it with a color? (Or is there an option for this which I missed until now?)

Background: I make extensive use of composition mode, and I have a selection of fullscreen images that I often use. However, although the environment is almost distraction free, the colored box in the background of the main text still distracts me (I know, complaining about first world problems here). However, when I set it to transparent, there is enough contrast in many of my background images to make my text not readable anymore. Or, at least, it makes it harder to read, which is also a kind of distraction.

I imagine that a blur effect in the rectangle defined by the text content could improve legibility while being subtle enough to be still distraction-free.

As I said, it’s just an idea. I’d be glad to hear thoughts and reactions to this.
