Hi! Just trying out the app for the first time, really liking it so far and the customization is great. But I’ve noticed that when I set a texture for the background, either for the main editor or for composition mode, it seems to get converted to a heavily compressed jpg, and possibly resized as well. This causes extremely obvious and ugly compression artifacts. Since I just made this account, I can’t embed images, but here is a link to an example of what I mean.
This happens even with textures as small as 5kb, so it’s clearly not related to file size. Hopefully this can be fixed.
I think backgrounds will always be converted to JPG.
There’s a slider for JPG-compression rate in the File > Options > Import/ Export page, but I doubt that works for backgroynds.
When you texture is actually a large image, it will be resized to fit the size of your scteen.
File size is not an issue, but your texture dimensions might be. You can prevent resizing by making your texture not larger the your screen resolution.
The compression is definitely not related to texture dimensions, either. The example I linked is only 300x300 pixels, and this happened even with a PNG that was only 4x4 pixels, two colors, and 5kb in size. It just murders the quality of any image I stick into it, and I don’t think it should work that way.
