Beta 1.3 - Corkboard + Edit scrivenings[ADDRESSED]

I’ve hesitated a bit about reporting this because I’m not sure it’s a bug. If it isn’t, you can put this down as a suggested feature.

However, my favorite outlining method is working with the corkboard. I rarely use the dedicated outliner. I just find the corkboard much easier to conceptualise!

So, I chug along filling in index cards, and work on texts associated with the index cards.

In this scenario, I’ve developed a “chunk” of the story with two different POVs, and I work on each POV at the time. I have alternating index cards for the different POVs.

I do this:

1 - I select the colour coded index cards on the cork board.
2 - I click on ‘edit scrivenings’

Like here.

When I click on the ‘edit scrivenings’ icon I expect only the selected index cards’ associated text to show up in the editor, but instead all the text in the folder holding these index cards show up. Ie I get the green ones that aren’t selected as well.

I would very much like to see that only the selected index cards’ texts are shown.

As I said, I don’t know if this is an actual bug, so if it isn’t - apologies for taking up your time. However, it is a functionality that I - with my workstyle - would very much like to see.

Hi Max,
If you want to view only some text files in a folder (instead of all) in Scrivenings mode, all you have to do is select these in the binder using ctrl+click. If you were in corkboard mode, you will be shown a corkboard with only those scenes, and then when you select Scrivenins mode, you will see only those scenes as a single document.
I haven’t found anything in the tutorial regarding the selection of ‘random’ scenes for Scrivenings mode from the corkboard, only from the binder, so I’m not sure either if this is a bug or simply not (yet?) an implemented feature.
I agree that it would be nice if it worked selecting scenes from the corkboard as well…

Yeah, I’m not sure it’s a bug either. I can see scenarios where the corkboard and scrivenings work with containers, and presents the text of the containers. Ie, when I’m working with my ‘chunk’ I see all of my chunk, and do more granular selections in the binder.

Still. I’m lazy. I want to be able to select on the corkboard and not have to move my pointer all the way to the binder!

Hi Max,

I can see why you’d want to do this in your scenario; however, current functionality (Mac also) has multiple selections on the corkboard showing all text elements in a folder for the combined text view. So, binder selection is necessary to see the selected elements displayed in a multi-text view.
