Beta is quitting spontaneously when left alone for awhile

Hi, I often keep Scrivener open for hours as a reference and note-taking tool. With the latest beta it just quits. I don’t know what causes it, as I am not using it at the time. I have 32 GB ram. None of my other programs are affected. Memory leak?

I don’t know if it’s been implemented in the beta yet, but Mac Scrivener 3 has an auto-quit option that will cause this behavior.

Oh, that’s interesting. This is the windows beta, maybe it’s in there and turned on by default. I’ll check it out. …

You’re right! It’s in there and on by default for a 60-minute timeout. That seems like a bad idea to me, to be on by default. It seems like a bug. IMO this should be off by default from a user’s perspective. Who expects their application to quit without being asked???

Anyway, thanks for the quick and correct response! -Don

Nobody would! That should not be a default; I cannot confirm that it is from my end (though I am using a newer internal build). I reset options to default by using the “Defaults” button, and this setting is disabled, with a passive default of 30 minutes, not 60. You get a different result with that (note you can save your settings to a file with the “Manage” button to the direct left of that button).
