I have been using Scrivener for several years now working on a “magnum opus.” The time has come to organize all of the endnotes I have been creating. I t became clear immediately that Scrivener is missing two features that would make this task possible - without using external tools, that is.
This is what’s missing:
1 - Ability to insert multiple endnote markers that all point to the same endnote.
2. - The ability to sort, and thereby renumber, the endnotes according to a publication’s requirements; alpha by author or date, in order of first appearance (it does this now except for #1, above.
Once I got all the references organized I had to compile a word doc and the never return to scrivener.
It’s unfortunate that an otherwise great app can’t finish the job it purports to be able to do.
I hope to see these features added soon. In the meantime, I’m not sure that I want to start another paper in Scrivener.
Thank you,
Dan Essin
