On 3 chapters out of 20 in my current project, there appears a tapering black line running across the top of the page that cannot be deleted. I thought it had something to do with the header as I could insert text above it. I really need it to be deleted and cannot find a way to do it. Does anyone have any ideas?
It could be the visual cue showing where you move from one document to another in Scrivenings mode.
Screenshot perhaps?
Sounds like a Scrivenings separator to me, if you have the “Divider” option selected in the Appearance: Scrivenings preference tab (or that’s just what it looks like in v2, if you’re still using that). Try putting your cursor above the bar and then use the ⌥⌘R shortcut (Reveal in Finder) to highlight the document whose text it corresponds with—it may even be a folder since in Scrivener folders are really text items. If you type a bit into the area, you should also see the icon change to indicate it is no longer an empty chunk of text. Lastly the editor header bar should print the title of the section.
