BlocNote, help.

Hi,

I seek and not find a Notepad (OSX / IOS) that I can sync via Itune or FTP (for iPad). I use Evernote right now, but Evernote needs cloud. But I do not want to go through the Cloud. Do you have any suggestions? The same notepad for OSX and IOS?
Thanks a lot

Ang.

I do not know of any notepad style applications that can operate through FTP, but many FTP clients (including the free CyberDuck) make it really easy to open up an FTP browser to a server and load and edit files directly off of it, using standard applications on the Mac. So if your example you like to use WriteRoom, you could assign that as your preferred editor in the FTP program, and edit these files directly off of the server.

On the iPad, there are apps for FTP editing. You’d have to search around as I’m not too familiar with the options. I’ve used FTP on the Go PRO, and had no complaints with it. It’s more tech focussed (which is understandable given that most people using FTP are web developers and such). Most of the “nice” editors featuring easy on the eyes display are going to be using “the cloud” in one way or another as this is what non-technical people prefer.

What about the native “notes” app?

Simple text entry and sync via iTunes. Native to iOS and all notes are right there in Mail.

If you need something more complex, providing required functionality would help.

It does work that way now, but such a method might have a time limit on it. I’ve heard that Mountain Lion will have a dedicated “Notes” application that hooks into the iDevice Notes, but whether that uses iCloud (that would make more sense than wrangling with Mail from a technical angle) or not isn’t something I’ve heard definitive word on.

Thanks for ur answers.

Yes, Mountain Lion, will sync Note via iTune. But I do not know if I will use Mountain Lion. Yet that is exactly what I need. As with “Keep your words,” this is exactly the kind of sync I need. Launch KYW on iPhone (KYW is not on Ipad at this time, too bad), launch KYP on Mac, and just select “Sync”, that’s all. As for the notes with Mail, it’s not very serious, in my opinion, and certainly not very practical. This is also true that the FTP is a bit technical. It’s still unbelievable that same application note-taking, beautiful and functional and can be synchronized via iTune does not exist on OSX and IOS. But I continue my research.

I finally find software that meets those needs. “Notebooks”, synchronization via iTune, available for mac and ipad. Amen.
