Breadcrumb navigation

I’d like to see breadcrumb navigation at the top of each editor pane so that it’s easier to see where I am in my documents. I often have the same named file in different folders and need to compare the two. In addition the binder focus should change to reflect the current editor focus. Thank you.

Although breadcrumb navigation won’t be coming in the bar itself - because it would take up too much space in a header bar that is intended to be editable - in version 2.0 there will be a “Path” menu available in the header bar icon that is much like the one you get in OS X an window when you ctrl-click on the icon at the top of the title bar.

No, it shouldn’t. The flow is left-to-right and it’s not normal or desirable for a source list to try to keep up with editor content, and it’s useful for navigational purposes to have the binder show only what has been explicitly selected there so that you can easily return to the document you selected after navigating in the editor in various ways. So, the binder will never try to keep up with editor navigation (excepting a new “next/previous” document feature coming in 2.0). Please see the FAQ for more details.

If you haven’t already discovered it, View > Reveal in Binder (opt-cmd-R) should prove useful in both these cases.

All the best,
Keith
