bulk unlearning spelling

I looked at the earlier posts about Scrivener learning spelling and found this: [url]https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/remove-a-word-from-the-dictionary/28850/1]. Now what I’d like to know is whether there is a way of bulk unlearning words or is it a one-by-one process? The reason for this question is that I merrily added a whole lot of names that I now don’t need and I’d like, if possible, to make “space” for words that I do need.

Users > YOUR USER NAME > Library > Spelling

You should find one or more user dictionaries in there. I have, for example:
– en
– en_GB
– LocalDictionary

Right click > Open With > TextEdit > and you should be able to edit en masse.

To err on the side of caution, duplicate the files before editing so that you can undo changes if necessary.

Thanks, but when I got there there were 3 other files there too, see attatchment.

What are they?

having removed the words I don’t want it is still behaving as though they are there!!! I typed a few and they are all being treated as though you can find them in the OED. I am confused.

Here’s a screen shot of a list of names; the few underlined are ones I took out manually, right clicking and ‘unleaning’, the one highlighted is a word that I didn’t unlearn and now cannot.

Help.
