By design? Or Bugs? Copy/move issues

Using beta 41

Documents:
I have two documents open in split screen.
I highlight text in one, and drag to the other.
It will ONLY COPY.
Since the ‘+’ is displayed, I expect to be able to use the shift key to effect a MOVE.
Since I cannot MOVE the text, I then click in the title bar of the first document to give the document focus so I can DELETE the highlighted text, that I wanted to move.

Instead the title bar enters EDIT mode for the title.
To edit the title, I expect to use f2, or double click, to edit the title, just like in the binder.

Obviously, clicking in the text window removes the highlight. I then have to re-highlight to delete.

===
Binder:
Dragging text from a doc to the binder creates a new doc, and MOVES the text, even though the ‘+’ sign is displayed, which usually means COPY.
But it only MOVEs the text.
I expect to be able to use SHIFT to change the process.

Am I being to Windowsy about these?

I would recommend posting this in the Beta Testing forum: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=57. It will get proper attention there. But FWIW, the fact that dragging from doc to doc results in a copy, not a move, has long been Scrivener’s standard behavior. I’m not using the beta, so this may have changed, but I find that when I drag text from document A to document B, the focus stays in doc A, so I can just hit Del to effect a “move.”

Thank you for your response.

I will test some more, about focus.

Default behaviors are good with me. But i expect consistency. doc to doc is a copy, doc to binder is a move

And, being able to change the result (copy/.move) with modifier keys has been available in windows from like forever.

Thanks

FredBob, I failed to read your initial post carefully. I agree that dragging text into the Binder (something I’ve never tried) ought to have the same effect as dragging into a document. I also like the idea of using the standard convention of adding Shift to change the outcome. Again, posting in the Beta Testing forum will get you better-informed responses!
