I recently bought and downloaded Scrivener 3 for Windows (Version: 3.0.0.0 (1238528) 64-bit - 23 Mar 2021). After experiencing persistent program crashes when trying to SAVE AS or CREATE NEW PROJECT, I posted on Windows bugs and was advised to do a program uninstall and reinstall.
I tried that and it seemed to work… for a while. The program crashes have returned for CREATE NEW FILE.
I’m extremely frustrated with the new version (Version: 3.0.0.0 (1238528) 64-bit - 23 Mar 2021) being so buggy, and needing so much additional work to try to keep it running. I’m trying to write, NOT be a technical support person!
Can I download and return to an earlier version of Scrivener without losing any work I was able to do in Scrivener 3 for Windows?
Additional Information for Scrivener3 for Windows program crash when trying to Create New Project.
I found the attached Windows Error Reporting (WER) file for the Scrivener crash - in case any windows gurus/Scrivener tech support folks can make any sense of what is happening…
Try to disable your antivirus an try Scrivener again.
If Scrivener works as expected in this case, white list Scrivener and your Scrivener project folder with your antivirus application.
Thanks - I tried turning off my Avira Real-Time protection - no change, still does same Scrivener3 crash when trying to Create New Project. I also tried adding new firewall rules for incoming and outgoing for Scrivener, but again, behavior stays the same.
Anybody get any clues from the attached .WER file?
I did a quick search and found a few references to Avira causing app crashes with error id: c0000374. Entirely disabling Avira worked around the issue, followed by upgrading to the latest version - perhaps worth checking that you are running the most up-to-date version.
