Can I use characters from other languages?

What i’m wondering is, is if it is possible to use characters like û,â and stuff like that in scrivener. I’ve copied them into scrivener, so it does recognize them, i’m just wondering how I can actually type them instead of going through the whole copy and paste rigmarole.
Thank to anyone that replies.

On a Mac, you just hold down a key for a second or two and a selection of possible characters appears in a pop-up for you to choose from.

For example, hold down e and you get è é ê ë ē ė ę.

Same on Windows, or a Mac-only shortcut?

I’ve never heard of that before, so must be Mac only.

Tries it… cool.

To the OP - you could learn the Alt key codes: symbolcodes.tlt.psu.edu/accents/codealt.html

But probably an easier way would be to make use of the substitutions - set up shortcuts for all the accented characters you need. So maybe when you type \e it puts in è or something.

You could also change your keyboard layout to something that supports accents. Such as the US International Layout:

You can use any character in the Windows character map. Here’s how:

Start menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map

Find the character you want, click on it. In the bottom right corner, you’ll see the Alt code. Hold down the Alt key and type the number using your number pad.

Ah, thanks for that, just what I wanted to know.
