Can presets be exported?

Both my wife and I use scrivener, and she would like to use the presets from my editor in her documents. I’ve looked for a way to export my presets to a portable document that she could then import, with no luck.

Is there a way that I can export my presets to another copy of Scrivener? Thanks.

There’s not currently a way to export them individually. The presets are saved together in a single file in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Scrivener\Scrivener\TextPresests. Copy the TextPresets.bin file from there and place it in the same location on the other computer (create the “TextPresets” folder if necessary) and the presets will appear when you start Scrivener. It will replace any custom presets you’ve already made, however, so this may not be the best option.

If you’ve got presets on both machines, the fastest way to recreate them on the second machine is to make a single document in a project with a handful of sample paragraphs, then just apply one preset to each paragraph. Copy that project to the other machine, open it in Scrivener, and then select each paragraph one at a time and create a new preset based on its formatting.

Thanks–that’s how I did it in this case, and knowing where the presets file is saved will make it easier in the future. Could you add the ability to export/import presets to your list of user-requested features, for future evaluation? Thanks.

It’s already on the list!
