Cannot manually reposition files in Research

I have been trying to reposition manually a pdf file imported into the Research folder with no success.

It will happily move to a folder in the Research section, to the trash, or as a sub-whatever of a text file. It will not sit where I want it, though; just below three text files and before the first folder. It bounces back to the bottom of the list.

I am having similar problems repositioning other files (text). Folder behave themselves and go to where I command them .-(

UPDATE

Hah! I have finally managed it … but it took 10 minutes and the precision of a surgeon to position the file JUST so between the border of the two others. Is it possible to have other files “make way” for the insertion of a new file (as in Mac), or make a clear “insertion line”?

Yes, I’m aware the tree object does require a steady hand and good eyes. I will take a look at this at some point. However, in the interim let me show you a great tip.

  1. Click on any text or folder item in the binder
  2. Press the CTRL key
  3. Whilst holding down the CTRL key click an arrow key - UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT

This should put a SMILE on your face as you watch your selection move around

The “make way” thing doesn’t even work in the Mac version of Scrivener. That interface device is only used in a few places, and not in hierarchal trees, unfortunately.
