Can't open file from Dropbox

I created a project on my iPad and synced to Dropbox. Later I went to open that project on my Mac. When I opened the .scriv file, I received the following message:

The project seems to be of an older format, but no binder.scrivproj file could be found inside it. It may be missing or corrupt, possibly because of a problem with the device on which it is stored, or because of a synchronisation problem.

Try ctrl-clicking on the project in the Finder and selecting “Show Package Contents”, then look for a file entitled ‘binder.scrivproj’. Ensure it has not been renamed by a backup routine. If it does not exist, try restoring from a backup.

I looked for the ‘binder.scrivproj’ file but none exists. I can still open and edit the file on my iPad, but not my Mac.

Thanks

Have you updated your Mac Scrivener to the latest version, 2.8?

Also, have you installed the Dropbox software on the Mac, allowing the project to appear as an item in Finder?
