I am currently working on my second novel and just switched from Word to Scrivener.
I have customized a template that works well for my writing style and am wondering if it is possible to change the ‘blue’ coloured border that appears around an index card when it is highlighted.
This is a MacOS system preference. Open the System Preferences app, click on the General tile, and choose a different accent colour. The outline around your selected index card will change – and so will your accent colour in all your other apps.
An issue? It’s just the way the MacOS UI works. Frankly, I don’t have another app besides Scrivener that lets me change even the text selection colour, also a system-wide selection, let alone the accent colour.
If this is a big problem for you, by all means post a request in the Wish List forum here. You may get lucky!
By ‘issue’ I meant the solution was found in the Mac OS and not within Scrivener. As a long time Mac user I am used to most non-design apps being Windows based with the Mac versions a bit convoluted and lacking. Scrivener is a pleasant diversion from that norm.
Aha. I avoid Windows-first apps. Having been a Mac app developer starting in 1983, and other Apple systems before that, I deeply understand the frustration that the Windows Scrivener users are voicing regarding the long incubation time of a Win Scriv version with features comparable to the latest Mac version—and bemused to find myself in the “privileged” group.
OTOH I am not too proud to use open source software—mostly Unix-based, with a Mac UI tacked on by volunteer developers. Yes, those can be awkward to use.
