Hi, all
I’ve recently come out as transgender and I’ve been trying with no success to change my registration name in my Scrivener so that my old name doesn’t pop up in the comment boxes or in the metadata. I can’t find any way to accomplish this. Is someone able to point me in the right direction???
Thank you in advance!!

I’m afraid it’s been a minute since I’ve used v1 for Windows, having used the beta for quite a long time, so I’m sorry if I mention menus that don’t exist in your version.
I assume author name is set globally somewhere in Tools->Options. Changing it there (if there is such a setting) would likely change it for all existing and future projects, unless you enter something in the project settings.
For an individual project you can adjust author name and project title via Project menu, Meta-Data Settings, Project Properties tab.
Hope that helps.
RDale is right that the Author’s Full Name setting is in the dialog accessed through Project menu > Meta-Data Settings > Project Properties. This means that it is per-project, not for the whole Scrivener program. I checked, and I can’t find anything in the program Options that will do this.
However, what I see in the Project Properties tab is an author name that corresponds to my Windows username. Scrivener (like MS Word, I think, and other programs) draws it from there. So you need to make the change at that level. Open the Control Panel and go to User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts, and select Change your account name. That should change it system wide.
First, congratulations on that step.
In addition to the pointers you’ve already been given, if you are trying to change the deadname in your registration code drop a note to L&L Support directly via their Contact page or one of the email addresses listed there. They don’t handle licensing issues in the forums.
