Changing template for an existing project

Dear all,

I have a project created with a certain template, and I would now like to change the template for that project, so — following suggestions in other posts on this forum — I created a new, empty project with the desired template and started dragging items from the binder of the original project into the binder of the new, empty project created with the desired template. My expectation was that the items transferred from the old project to the new one would be formatted as per the specification of the template with which the new, empty project had been created; instead, those items look exactly as they did in the original project. Was my expectation incorrect or am I doing something wrong? In either case, what would be the correct procedure to change the template of an existing project — other than changing all the settings in that project? Thank you for your consideration.

Best regards,
Enrico

If the default settings for the new project are already what you want, you can skip this paragraph. (To find out, create a new document and see what formatting it uses.) Once you’ve formatted one paragraph to work the way you want, you can use the Project → Project Settings → Formatting pane to make it the default for this project, or Scrivener → Scrivener Preferences → Editing → Formatting to make it the default Scrivener-wide.

Then, the Documents → Convert → Text to Default Formatting command will reformat existing text to the new default.

Thank you very much, Katherine, for the prompt and helpful reply: I followed your instructions, and it worked just perfectly! Thanks very much again.
