Being new to Scrivener I’m not having any problems so far except for one: I want to organize everything so it falls into the same two groups. For instance, I want to have all the chapters together as a whole then everything that happens within the chapter broken up into scenes…Is this possible? Any help you can give is greatly appreciated

Scrivener provides out of the box templates for several purposes. One of them is exactly what I think you’re after. You’ll find it under the Fiction category, it’s named “Novel”, and will create a default binder structure like this one:
