Character count options?

I’m writing a paper for a seminar, where there is a hard character limit. This includes titles along the way, but not line breaks (when you hit return). Unfortunately, when I use the character counter in Scrivener, it does include line breaks, but not titles.

Now, I can get around the titles by including them in Scrivenings. That’s not so hard. But I would really like to change my preferences so that it doesn’t include when I hit return. Is this possible? I’ve tried searching in the ‘Help’ menu, but to no avail.

I couldn’t find a preference for that. This might work for you but will require some minimal experimentation and manual calculation:

Open a Scrivenings session > in the menu bar, Project > Text Statistics

Will give you an entry for Lines (hard):

Thanks - I can definitely use that. If anyone does find the preference that I’m looking for, do post it, but thank you, scshrugged, for a solution. =D
