Citation problem with Qiqqa

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am currently testing the ability of using Srivener (PC version) for writing my PhD thesis. No doubt it is a very impressive software.

I am trying to use Scrivener with a software called Qiqqa (qiqqa.com) instead of using Endnote for citations and bibliography. Qiqqa has a built-in function called InCite which works well with MS Words. However there seemed to have some problem as Scrivener cannot pull the same citation data from Qiqqa.

Question:

  1. How can I make Scrivener to work with Qiqqa in the Bibliography/Citation Manager?

  2. If it does not work directly, is there an intermediate steps that can solve the import problem?

I thank you in advance for your reply!

I have no experience with this manager, and am not aware of its capabilities through hearsay, so you might be better off asking on their forum if they have one, or through tech support. I can tell you the basic technology you need: you need a way to somehow put down a placeholder into the editor. This will likely be a human readable plain-text string, often in curly-braces, that after you compile to RTF, you can use the citation manager software to scan (“scan” is a term commonly used amongst this type of software for this process) and replace with formatted notes—or use the Word plug-in to convert the placeholders. So what you need to ask them is whether it is possible to use their software with anything other than Word, and if so, how. There is nothing special about Scrivener in this regard, it will in most cases use whatever technique is available to OpenOffice, WordPerfect, etc. Plug-ins written specifically for MS Word are never of any use to other programs.
