Collaborating on a novel between Mac and Windows

My writing partner and I would like to use Scrivener to collaborate on a novel. I use windows and he uses Mac. Is this possible? Can we, for instance, log in at same time and see each other’s changes in real time? Thank you!

Short: No.

Long: Don’t open the project at the same time. Ever. Then it will work across platforms (with the same major version number, e.g. v3 on both ends).

Thank you. That’s really a shame because I like Scrivener–I’ve been using it for years–but to not be able to write at the same time, since we’re both morning writers, means we can’t use it. Would you happen to know of any software that would work better for us? Thanks again.

One alternative would be for each user to have a completely separate copy of the project, and then use the Import and Merge function to add changes back to the “master” copy. See Section 5.3.2 in the (Mac) Scrivener manual.

Or divvy up the mornings between you, and on the seventh day rest.
