Compatibility between 2.0 and WinScriv

Okay – just wondering how safe / effective it is to move my data back and forth between a 2.0 nano trial (for the mac) and the Windows beta. Are they compatible now?
Thanks!
~Jenny

They are compatible, but because there are RTF and formatting bugs lurking in the Mac version, you could find that you lose text formatting in going back and forth, so I would be cautious about going back and forth too much with these early Windows builds. As the Windows version matures and becomes more stable, things will become much easier.

Thanks! I’m very impressed with you and Lee and the entire team (I take it there are also a David and an Ioa who are important and likely a few others) and the technical support you have offered. It’s exemplary

Thanks. The entire team can be found here:

So, there are five of us, although Lee has someone helping him with the Windows code at the moment, so there is a shadowy sixth.

I have a follow-up question for this thread. I purchased Scrivener a year or so ago, and have not upgraded to 2.0 for Mac yet (need to see if it’s out). I saved my Scrivener files to my thumb drive to open them up on the Windows beta I downloaded on my work computer. None of them would open once I unzipped them. Only the .txt format existed. Is there a certain way I should export them from the Mac version to get them to open in the Windows version? Thanks for your help!

Scrivener 1.x uses several Mac-only file formats only, so only the 2.0 format is compatible with the Windows version. So you’ll need to update first. There’s a 2.0 preview out here:

It doesn’t go on sale properly until next Monday though.

Keith

Thank you! I just upgraded and will e-mail them to myself and try opening them on Windows Scrivener at work tomorrow. I appreciate the help.
