Compile and "Scrivener Links"

In all likelihood, this is pilot error.

Let’s say for consistency, I make a scrivener link for my character name to a quick precis on his/her salient features. eg: … Cyan Scarborough … links to a file in the characters section that does not print where it goes on about her penchant for playing heavy metal banjo.

Now I compile this to a pdf.

The above renders as a link to “8” … er what?

The same is true of epub. I just checked with calibre.

What am I doing wrong? These should be removed when compiling surely.

Yes, the links compiling like this is a bug; they should be removed. As a workaround, you can compile to RTF or DOC and open that in a word processor to strip the links, then save to PDF from there.
