Compile: Can't Undo "Remove First Paragraph Indents"

I’m trying my manuscript for the Kindle and wanted to have the first paragraph of each chapter flush left, i.e. no indent. In the Compiler, under Formatting, I clicked “Override text and notes formatting” and then “Options…” Once there, under Layout Options, I clicked on “Remove first paragraph indents” and the radio button “At the start of each new document.”

When I clicked OK and then Compile, the result was that each paragraph of the entire manuscript has lost its indent. Not what I had intended, so I Compiled again, this time unchecking the box “Remove first paragraph indents.” Unfortunately, that had no effect—all the paragraphs all still begin flush left. There is no indent.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the basic question, but since you are overriding your formatting, do you have indents in the format that the manuscript is being convert to, in the mock editor half of the Formatting pane? Click though all of these sections that have a sample text section and verify there are indents—if not, use the ruler tool to add them.
