It would be great to have a compile option that would make Scrivener links signal that the text from the linked file should be inserted.
Thanks for the great software, and for hearing me out!

On thinking about this further, I think what would be more practical is something akin to having an alias for any document that might be in the binder. For example, you could have:
Which would then compile with the text from Document 1, 2, 3, 4, 3. The idea is that you would only have to change Document 3 for the changes to apply to the alias. This is great for text that might repeat multiple times in a book.
I think I remember seeing similar functionality in Mori. However, I notice that Keith has said Compile Draft has been overhauled, and I’m wondering if this has already been implemented. I searched the forums but couldn’t get a really good answer, so apologies if this is redundant.
Hi,
Sorry for not replying earlier. You will indeed be able to do something like this in 2.0. There are no aliases and it won’t use links, but instead it will be possible to set up entirely arbitrary groups of documents that can be compiled, or you can compile the results of a search. There’ll be more information when I finally announce all the features officially, but basically there will be an even more flexible way of doing what you want to do.
All the best,
Keith
Thanks Keith. Looking forward to 2.0.
