I’m trying to compile a .mobi using the KF8/Mobi preset, but it’s gone. All I can see in my compile options are Epub Book and Kindle Book as per attachment.
I’m running the 3.1.4 version and am not aware of any changes since last week when I last compiled the same file.
Any ideas on how to get that preset back?

Actually that is the KF8 option you’re looking at. It’s the old legacy method that was removed some time ago. Given how few devices there are left out there than can’t read the modern formats, it didn’t make sense to continue offering that (internally) very divergent chunk of code.
I noticed the same thing, but I have a different problem. When I try to compile my MS to .mobi, I get the error message “Kindle document creation failed. KindleGen failed to generate a .mobi file at the expected location.” I was able to compile this same MS to .mobi before I upgraded to Catalina and V. 3.1.4. Am I doing something wrong?
KindleGen no longer works with macOS once you upgrade to 10.15. It’s a 32-bit program, and so the message you are getting is probably just a red herring related to Scrivener’s inability to launch it.
Try installing Kindle Previewer. We’ve set things up so that Scrivener will defer to using its built-in copy of KindleGen (which is 64-bit) instead of whatever you have installed.
