How could such a bad formatting bug have remained this whole time?
Agreed. This list issue is extremely frustrating, affects a fundamental tool of writing, and should have been ironed out before the program was released.
You would need to pay me, very well, to use to a Mac (or any other Apple product.)
And were you to do so, I still wouldn’t be able to use lists reliably, as they are apparently a problem with Scrivener for Mac as well as Scrivener for Qt.
How is such a basic function still unfixed? The use of bullets in Scrivener is terrible.
Within a certain bullet indentation I can make making bullets of the same indentation but the minute I try to make something from a different bullet indent I’m on a whole new ruling scheme and can’t get back to the original indent with tab or shift+tab. What’s worse is it seems completely random.
Bulleted lists work fine for me (that is they don’t go off and do their own thing when you close Scrivener) as long as the left indent is never set to zero. (Ruler is always active, and locks at any .25 cm gap, so I handle indents and tabs with my mouse.)
I use the Format Copy and Format Paste icons to good effect with bullets and numbering. I was pleased to find that Format Paste works for multiple non-contiguous pastes, something even Microsoft never got right with their UWP apps.
Do you know how much effort I put in to learning how to use certain popular free markdown text products so that I could have functioning lists? Do you know how much frustration I went through trying to get used to the fact that markdown has so many oddities and I can’t use tab there? Do you know how much I missed the simpler look of Scrivener, and how badly I missed the great features that go with being able to activate fullscreen focus mode with dark black strips on either side? All those words I manually went through while exporting, and I’m only a tenth of the way through the export because I need to be organized, and I realized how badly organized my words were along the way.
And then you go and fix the list bug!
What is this, a make your customers happy patch?
Goodness me, next thing I know you’ll come out with an Android app that allows me to edit my Scrivener notes while on my phone.
Unless I’ve misread something, I can’t reproduce my list bugs. It really looks like it’s fixed. Did you do it for reals for reals?
Can anyone confirm that this is definitely fixed? I’m not just hallucinating? I am a bit wary of getting my hopes up - it’s a lot of work cycling back and forth all the content between projects, but it would be a lot easier coming back to Scrivener since I’m only part of the way out.
The only thing I really will miss about Obsidian is the function to ‘find’ “outgoing links” and “ingoing links” so that I can get documents to properly cross reference each other and therefore help me with being organized and finding redundancies etc. I’ll appreciate any link or suggestions on how to better manage that in Scrivener.
LL? They always do that!
Something’s not quite working as it should? no problem ; as a user you find a clunky but somewhat functional workaround. But them what do they do? – they fix the damn thing!
Complete disrespect.
