Conditional Compile for Novel with Two Narrators

I’m writing a novel with two narrators, one male, one female. I would like to use an image in the Chapter title that will change depending on the narrator.

So one set of Chapters will look like this:
Chapter X
(male image)
Chapter Title

And the other set will be similar but with the (female image).

The way my Scrivener is set up Chapter Titles are taken from the title of folders. I know how to manipulate the compile to have an image appear below the number placeholder. So that’s not the problem. The problem, in coding speak, is an “if-then” conditional setup.

Thanks.

Hi.
There is no “if/then”. (At least, not automatic. You are the CPU.)
Just use a different section type/section layout combo for the different outputs.

→ I just now created those two using “edit” at the bottom of the dropdown.

In the main compile panel, assign those to two properly set section layouts, designed in your compile format.
One with the image for when it is narrator A ; one with the other image, for when it is narrator B.

After that, it is only a matter of assigning the documents/chapters the right section type (first screenshot) as you work your novel.

Thank you. I’ll try that.

There’s a very smooth way of doing it, with Label and the $img tag:

chapters, headings, etc

managing images

I’ll check that out too. Thanks.
