In Microsoft Word, if I copy, then paste an area of text that contains a variety of formatting, e,g. My fridge has gone! — it retains the bold and italics when pasting…
Scrivener will do this when dragging and dropping, but with no option to do so when copying and pasting…
Am I missing something? Do I always need to drag and drop when wanting to retain this formatting (different formatting within a copied section). I’d much prefer to use keyboard shortcuts for this basic thing (that Word seems to do with no problem).

Copying and pasting should retain formatting unless you explicitly use the “Paste and Match Style” command to tell Scrivener otherwise.
What version do you have?
