copy footones from another application?

Hello
I am trying to copy text with footnotes from Pages to Scrivener but the footnotes do not appear in scrivener. I am using drag and drop or cut and paste with the same result. Is there a workaround?
Thank you

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Unfortunately there’s no way to copy and paste footnotes directly from Pages, no, because Pages doesn’t support the RTF file format properly which is what is needed to read footnotes from the pasteboard (you’ll notice that footnotes disappear when you copy from Pages into other programs, too, such as Word). As this is a Pages limitation, I’m afraid there’s not much I can do, so the best thing to do is to save to a Word format, open the Word document in Word, then save that as RTF and import that into Scrivener (or copy and paste from Word into Scrivener - that works fine).

All the best,
Keith

Just an added note, if you don’t have and don’t want to shell out for Word, OpenOffice or one of its clones, like LibreOffice will do the conversion for you too.
