Copy format is changing my keyboard functions

I am running Scrivener 3.1.1.0 on Windows 11.

I have used the combination WIN Alt Shift C to copy a format, and then WIN Alt Shift V to paste the format.

For some reason, this alters the function of my keyboard (maybe I’m doing something wrong). After doing that, when I try to type, the letter keys start controlling the menu. For example, if I type a word with the letter “p”, Scrivener opens the “Project” pull down menu. I literally can no long type a word with the letter “p”.

Alt Tab no longer works correctly. The keyboard is then messed up for applications outside Scrivener as well. The only way I have been able to resolve this is by rebooting the PC.

I seem to be getting into some special input mode that I don’t know how to exit.

Any thoughts?

Turn it off and then uncheck the blue box. (?)

Upgrade to v3.1.5.1.

When I click on “Help” and “Check for Updates”, the pop-up says “Scrivener is all up to date.”

“About Scrivener” says I am running Version 3.1.1.0 (03 Nov 2021)

Is there a bug in how Scrivener checks for updates?

KCB

btw, the L&L release notes page lists Scrivener 3.1.5.1 as the latest version for Windows.

Yes, there’s a bug in the older version that keeps it from recognizing the 3.1.5.1 version as a valid update.

You can download the .exe installer file and run it to update Scrivener. Doing so should not affect your existing projects. They are stored on your computer as .scriv folders and not within the software itself.

The op said the issue also affects other apps as well.
I am pretty sure the problem is that a key - unwillingly hit - triggers sticky keys.

That (sticky keys) or something the likes that locks the alt key.

It is a good idea to keep Scrivener up to date, but I am 100% sure that it won’t fix the current issue.

Not specifically stated in other replies, but you can run install (well download the installer) from the L&L release notes page.
It may not be the solution to your current problem, but at least you’ll have the latest update.
