copy something to a folder but keeping track of origin

I want to be able to highlight various bits and pieces of text in a document, or in several documents, all having some common feature. Then I want to format search for them, and copy them into a common document, or at least a common folder with subfiles. Then, when I am in the common document, I want to be able to know their origin; i.e what was their original document. It can be in the form of metadata or even just a command that lets me highlight the specific bit I am interested in and then to go back to its first home.

It is a bit like linking, but linking doesn’t seem to work. And it is a bit like cross-referencing, but I can’t seem to make it work the way I want either.

Is this possible in Scrivener? It would be very useful for thematic analysis research.

Thanks

Don

Closest thing to that would be using inline annotations, and then exporting an annotation file with titles.

Thanks. I’ll give it a try.
