Create New Linked Document would benefit from using a Document Type

I can create a new document in a folder with Default Template for Subdocuments set to a certain Document Template with a certain Section Type and Icon, and it works.

When I let Scrivener create a New Linked Document in the same folder it won’t have the Section Layout nor the Icon. The Document Template is not applied in this case.
I can set the Section Layout for the folder and its Default Subdocument Type in its context menu. But that won’t set the icon or any other attributes the Document Template might have.

So, I wish Create New Linked Document would benefit from using a Document Type.

It does work the way you want it to on the Mac, so I assume this either a bug, or it’s on the road map for Windows as well — but of course, only the developers can confirm that one way or the other.

Yes, to confirm this is intended to work the way you describe and that it does not is a known bug. The newly linked item should also be created normally, as one would see a new item added to a container—i.e. at the bottom of the list and not at the very top.
