I would like to suggest the addition of a function to the columns-menu, which is accessed on the top right of the screen of the Outline View. This function would enable a user-created selection of columns to appear under a single name in the list of columns on that menu. For example:
‘Scenes’ might include 50 (or however many…) columns in sequence.
‘Arc’ might give stages in the character arc. ’
Time-line’ could give columns for relevant dates.
A function would have to be created to allow a user to create these collections of columns and save them - perhaps in the meta-data menu.
Having names for collections of columns in the columns menu, would enable a user to access by a single action, various types of information in the outline which at the moment appears to be only available by manually going through multiple actions i.e. selecting and deselecting columns till the right collection is obtained, on the column menu of the Outline View.
If there are many columns, this can be very time consuming. If you want to switch from a time-line to a character arc, to a scene sequence, and back again, this might involve manually ticking on and off a few hundred columns. The new feature would allow you to achieve this result simply by selecting the collection of columns that you want, under the relevant name on the menu.
