Cross Editing

I write in individual text documents and the compile them into chapters. Is there a way to edit in a compiled document and have it update the individual scene and visa versa?

Once a document is Compiled, the result is no longer part of the project and is no longer connected to the project’s structure. There are a variety of options you can use to keep track of which piece is which, but the short answer is that no, edits to the Compiled output are not reflected in the project.

However, this distinction does not exist within Scrivener. That is, you can view either an individual document or several of them as part of a Scrivenings session. These are two different views of the same underlying data, and so yes, any changes made in the Scrivenings session will be reflected in the individual documents.
